Week 6 - Keyboarding - GIFs & JPEGs

GIFs & JPEGs
------------
GIF is short for 'Graphic Interchange Format'.

JPEG comes from 'Joint Photographic Experts Group' (the name of the committee that wrote the standard for this type of
computer image).

We won't go into the technical details--what you need to know is that GIFs & JPEGs are the most commonly used GRAPHIC files
on the Internet. They are also very easy to copy and use.

To copy a GIF or JPEG into a document simply:
1. RIGHT CLICK on the image
2. Scroll through the gray box which appears and click on COPY
3. go to your document, put the curser where you want the image to appear, right click, then scroll to and click on PASTE.

YOU SHOULD NEVER COPY IMAGES FOR YOUR OWN USE UNLESS THEY ARE OFFERED FREELY OR UNLESS YOU CITE THE WEBSITE FROM WHICH YOU 'BORROWED IT':

To cite websites you should include the name of the website and the URL.
-----------------
HAND ON Activity:
1. Multi-task using a website and MS Word.
2. Write a short story and illustrate it with an image from a website.
3. Save your story to your folder
